Women's Military History Room

This exhibit looks that ever evolving roles of women in the military, from the Civil War to today.  With the formal acceptance of nurses into the Army and Navy's officer's corps in the early 1900s  this was expanded during WWI when women were accepted into the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard in a clerical capacity.  In WWII women joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC), Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service (WAVES), U. S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve, and U.S.

This exhibit looks that ever evolving roles of women in the military, from the Civil War to today.  From WWI Yoemanetts, and Women Marines, to WWII Women's Army Corps (WAC), Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service (WAVES), U. S. Marine Corps Women's Rserve, and U.S. Coast Guard's SPARS (not an accronym), and after WWII the evolution of the Air Force's Women in the Air Force.

PURPOSE: Create, Maintain and Develop Partnerships, Projects and Proposals (Fundraising/Grants) to Engage, Educate, Entertain and Empower Veterans and Allies in the Creative Arts (Literary, Performance and Visual) for their Pleasure, Profit and Healing.

On Free Tuesday we are open normal business hours (10:00am-4:00pm).

Free Tuesday allows you to visit the museum for free if you are a San Diego County Resident with valid ID. 

We have many wonderful resources that come to spend the day with us and we would like for you too as well! 

If you are not a SD County Resident, you are still welcome for a very small admission fee.
